The final piece in the series takes another map from around Wakefield and transforms its streets, boundaries and spaces into an abstract composition. Built up through layers of acrylic and expressive marks, the painting balances recognisable map-like shapes with a much more tactile and spontaneous surface. It’s a way of taking an everyday, familiar landscape and seeing it differently — as colour, texture and fragments rather than simply a place on a map.
