Inspired by maps from around the Wakefield area, this painting breaks the familiar landscape down into fragments of streets, fields and open spaces. Layers of earthy greens, blues and rusty reds build up a textured, weathered surface, contrasting with the clean white lines of the map. The result is a loose, abstract interpretation of a place that feels both familiar and completely different when viewed from above.
