Out of Office is a playful and light-hearted piece inspired by the feeling of switching off and stepping away from everyday life as I was about to start my holidays.

Once again, the pigeon acts as a quirky reminder of my dad, but this time he is completely embracing the holiday mood. Sitting back in a deckchair, wearing oversized sunglasses and surrounded by colourful beach huts, he captures that wonderfully carefree feeling of having nowhere to be and nothing to worry about.

The bright colours and sunny setting create a sense of warmth, fun and escapism. The pigeon’s exaggerated pose and oversized sunglasses add a comedic element, allowing the painting to feel joyful rather than sentimental.

For me, Out of Office represents that moment when work and responsibilities are temporarily put to one side and you can simply relax. It is a celebration of taking a break, enjoying the sunshine and allowing yourself to do absolutely nothing—while imagining my dad joining in with the holiday spirit in his own wonderfully ridiculous way.
